Love from the Past - Me

I've been blogging since 2002 and I don't talk about myself much here, but thought I should, after all there years introduce myself and share a photo of me. Here is my bio: Cheryl Zibisky's photographs have appeared in several notable publications including; Real Simple, Ladies Home Journal, Wine Spectator, Garden & Gun, Family Fun and New York Magazine. The recipient of numerous awards, critics have noted her ability to find beauty in both a sensual neck line and an old weathered chair. This aspect of her work is explored in a study of Atlanta's Hotel Scoville (yet to be published).

Completed around the turn of the century in the heart of Atlanta's original commercial district, the hotel was once a pleasant destination for businessman traveling to Atlanta by rail. However, during the decline of the city's downtown area, the hotel fell to harder times. Nearly 100 years after its completion, when Ms. Zibisky came across the building, it sat in neighborhood filled bars, pool halls, and prostitutes. In a strikingly successful self-proclaimed attempt, to show what is left behind when people and places have nowhere to go. She documents both the space and its clientele over its last few months of business.

After completing her studies at Atlanta's Portfolio Center, Ms. Zibisky made the move north to New York City. In her time in New York she built a portfolio while working with great talent and clients. But most of all though, she enjoys walking around her Park Slope, Brooklyn neighborhood capturing people with their fury companions and visiting with friends. In 2002 Cheryl established a group of talent for regular Art Swaps. The purpose of the evening is to gather creatives of all genres and mediums together in one location in order to exchange ideas and socialize in general. The idea is each attendee will bring an original piece of artwork, the work is then numbered and hung within the chosen space. The numbers are then collected in a hat and each attendee draws one (other than there own) and walks away the proud owner of a new piece of art. Designer Russell Austin http://www.russellaustin.com/ created an identity for the group and the group still meets regularly.

In 2010 Cheryl moved south to enjoy love and the mountains. She now splits her time between New York and North Carolina. Her hobbies include pottery and fishing!

Love from the Past - Fashion

After being in New York a year or two I did some fashion testing for modeling agencies. This is Erin with Elite Models. Slightly dated from 2003, but still very lovable.

Fly-Tying Story - "This is Fly"

On March 10, 2010 I shared photos of some fly-tying images. It was a personal project, but I pitched it to a fly fishing magazine and here are the results. If you'd like to read the story, click the title above to be taken to the story via "This is Fly" website.

Love From the Past - Street Meeting

Some of my favorite photos I've taken/love are from my pre-blogging days. This one was taken while in college when I took a trip to Spain. I call it "Street Meeting". Be sure to click and enlarge. I love how the women has her toe pointed and grounded.
